A letter came for us!

We shared our bee work from last term with NZ Gardener and we received a letter in the mail shortly after!
We now have wildflower seeds to plant in our pot. The flowers will provide nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies and other insects.
Lucky us!

Butterfly fly away

This morning we noticed we could see the butterfly through the chrysalis. When we came back from assembly it was sitting on the plant. We put it in the garden so it could dry it's wings. Now it has flown away.

Special visitor

Last Friday we were very lucky to have a special visitor from council (Wastewise) visit us! We learnt all about worm farms and how they help our environment. The vermicast makes great fertiliser that helps our plants to grow. Did you know worms have five hearts and no bones?! Here are some photos showing what a great time we had. We even looked at out school worm farm. We found lots of plastic and things that shouldn't be in there! Now we will take action and fix it. We will make signs to show the other classes what should and what shouldn't go in our worm farm. We are so lucky that he came to talk to us! Thank you again :-)

So much plastic!

Thank you!

A huge thank you to all the students and whanau that came to help with gardening on Saturday! What a great turn out and don't the gardens look great?! Also our mokomoko is nearly finished. Your help is hugely appreciated.

Today we did some great descriptive writing about our new gardens.

R.D. Said "the mokomoko is as humongous as a whale!"
