  1. Fun Day
    by Annie Room 4

Ding! Ding! Ding! The bell went.
“Yes!” I shouted as if we had been waiting for years. Quickly we globbled our lunch and then we rushed to the NETBALL MATCH!
When both teams were ready, we were all waiting for the Wesley A team to play against the adults. My partner was Ebony’s mum, Jesse had Mr Margetts, he was as tall as a giraffe. Although Wesley A team kept trying hard, we in didn’t win….at least we managed to score two goals!

Ding! Ding! Ding! The bell rang again later in the afternoon.
We lined up outside to start our fun games afternoon as we had drank our milk before lunch. First, we played T-ball with Ms Cheung. It was a shame the girls never had a turn to bat because we ran out of time. Next, we tried relay games. I was really puffed out! I was talking to myself, “I don’t want to play anymore – I had enough!”

  2. The Opening Day
    by Desmond Room 4

On Tuesday morning, 4 April 2014, a special assembly was taking place in the hall of W.P.S. Room 4 walked and lined up to the hall like everyone else. When I thought it was just a normal assembly, I saw so many parents and guests. It felt like I was a mouse surrounded by a litter of cats. I was so embarrassed because my nana stood up first and put money on my sister when she was dancing on stage.

Before the Tongan group was the Kapa Haka group. Fita shouted like he was scared of a hippo. He was leading the group. After the Tongan group was the musical ukulele group. Then, 15 minutes later….. we were saying a prayer to God and Tamatua. When it finished we strolled back to class,
HUNGRY! “When are we going to eat the adult’s food?”
    I said!

I hope Tamatua is alright in heaven and I hope there is a boys only Tongan group.

  3. The Duffy Show
    by Sebastian
“Pizza!” Rosie told us to make a sound for Ninja Turtles. We made lots of different sounds. It was a great show. I like Duffy’s golden crown and his cloak was fully covered with picture books. It was colourful like the rainbow.
The funniest part was actually seeing Bingo pretended talking to Justin Beiber on the phone, “ Lorde said you’re an egg for not coming to my grand final game.” Bingo was lying to the whole school, it was so.... hilarious!
In the end Bingo liked reading ballerina books because it helped him scored more goals in the game. Bingo was great and I liked him singing the song “Last Christmas”. It was a fabulous experience.
I can’t wait for the next Duffy Show!

  4. The Opening Assembly
    by Sefita

On Tuesday, we attended an opening assembly of the office and health building. The Kapa Haka group performed on stage first. I led the group, my heart was beating fast as a cheetah darting up the hill. I was over the moon!

The Tongan group performed next on stage. The girls were fantastic, they were in their traditional dresses dancing gracefully. They received lots of money. The ukulele group performed last. We played “E-I-A-I-E” , it was a marvellous song. I like strumming the chords. Mrs Parkin made a little speech every time after each group finished performing.

Then, everyone stepped outside to say a prayer to God so he could bless our office and the health building. There were a lot of people standing outside the office. Everyone came and it was one of the coolest days of my life. I was proud of myself because I was in both the Kapa Haka and Ukulele groups.

  5. The PE Fun Day
    by Franzene

Yesterday we had a family fun day at school. It was amazing. I had two juicies. It was delicious like ice cream. When I was having my juicies I was watching the netball team. I cheered for the Black team and the Red’s.

Ding! Ding! The bell rang. It was time to play fun games. We walked to the field with Ms. Cheung. We played T-ball first. The girls were fielding and the boys were batting. When we were about to swap, the girls didn’t get to bat because the bell rang. Next, we had relays with Mrs. Harrison. First, she put us into groups and I was in a group of 3 (or 4? …I forgot). The relays was tiring and exhausting.

After that was Mrs. Walker’s game. Her game was scatter-ball. I was second to kick the ball. It was the most awesome game I’d ever played. We swapped and our team was fielding. It was great to catch the ball. Last but not least was Mr Margett’s game. When we were walking to him he remarked, “Don’t waste your time!” So quickly we ran and sat down. He said, “It was non-stop cricket and not standing around and argue at each other cricket!” So some people became fielders or batters. It was a good game. He told us we were the second best team of the day.

When we walked back to Ms. Cheung, I told Emalaina, “I’m so thirsty!” We rushed back to class and had a drink.

  6. Funeral
    by Nathaniel
Everyone was getting ready for the funeral and there were lots of people getting ready. When the day came to bury my great grandpa all the people were crying, praying and singing. I was very, very, very, very sad too. I was so sad because I didn’t even get to meet my great grandpa. So that was why I was very sad. Even though I haven’t met him I still love him.

When my grandma was crying she heard a voice, “It’ll be ok,” murmured my uncle softly.

    I was very blue.

  7. Fun Day
    by Sione
At 1pm we stepped outside to have our Fun Day. Our food was like a feast as I had a cupcake and sausage sizzle and different kinds of cakes. Next, the netball girls were playing against adults. Slang! Went Mr. Margetts’ hand was like a snake passing the ball to his team. The adults won the game. Then the bell rang and we lined up and walked to our first activity.

We had T-ball. It was fun because you could hit it far away. “Run! Run like the wind,” shouted the class. I like playing T-ball! Our class did four activities: racing, scatter-ball, non-stop cricket and T-ball.

Finally, the bell rang and we lined up to go back to class at 2:55. I had a fantastic day!

  8. Fun Day Fantastic
    by Rachel

Boom!! Went the ball. Everyone was really still until the second ball was kicked. I was running from cone to cone and I stopped when both balls were back in the hoop. We were playing scatter-ball. It was awesome, but my favourite part was relays because I loved having a run. We won the game. It was a fantastic day.

I also had 3 ice-blocks. They were really cold like the fridge and sweet at the same time. It almost gave me a brain-freeze.
When I was doing relays I also heard my team yelling, “Run! Run!” So I ran as fast as I could. After that I felt over the moon because it was magnificent the way we spent our PE Fun Day.

    by Hame

Last Tuesday the whole school went to the hall for the opening of the health building.
I saw lots of people coming that I didn’t know. The Kapa Haka group came first. The leader was Sefita. “Hope!” he shouted like a lion. He was awesome.

I like “A-E-I-E-A” because it was easy to sing. It was a fabulous day!

  10. PE Fun Day
    by Jaylene
Yesterday, it was PE Fun Day. At lunch time we had sausage sizzle. The sausage was so hot that it nearly blew my mind like I was throwing a bomb to a tiger on the ground. It was really really hot.

Later I heard screaming and shouting outside the playground. Some adults and kids were playing netball. The adults won the game. I wished the kids won instead of the adults. The adults worked as a team and they were taller than the kids. They were very tall like a giraffe reaching for the leaves in the tree.

Then, the bell rang, we lined up the PE games. The first game was T-ball. The girls were fielding and the boys batting. When it was time for the girls to bat, the bell rang! All the girls were angry and sad because they didn’t get a turn. The boys just laughed. We didn’t think that was very funny at all.

  11. The Opening
    by Marick Room 4

On the opening day of the Health building, the Kapa Kaka group was the first to perform. I heard the group stomping like poles hitting the ground. Sefita was shouting loudly because he was leading the group. After the Kapa Kaka group, it was Tongan group’s turn. As they started dancing, Sunia’s parents started yelling out, “Go Siu!

Soon, Desmond’s nana was the first one to stand up and gave money to the girls who were dancing on the stage. Then, lots of people started going up and gave money to their kids.

The ukulele group was up next. They sounded like lots of bells ringing on a warm sunny morning. After that, we walked out to hear the blessing of the new building. Soon, it was over and we walked back to our class to have morning tea.

It was a great way to start a lovely morning.

  12. Alan Duff
    by Tugi

Last week Alan Duff came to our school.
“Hello Room 4,” he greeted us. We were so excited. I asked many questions. These were my questions.
    Were your books your friend?
Were you so excited when the book ends and you want to find out what happens?
Were you the smartest kid in school?
How many books have you read so far?
How many books did you take to school? He said, “300.”

He told the class my questions were remarkable. He wore a blue shirt that was as blue as the ocean. His jeans were as dark as a cave. We asked lots of questions and he was so pleased with our questions that he will give two books each to everyone even Ms Cheung.

Finally, when he finished I had to give a “thank-you” speech and shake his hand. By the way, he is the author of
“Once A Warrior” and many other books.

  13. The Duffy Show
    by John

Last week we went to a Duffy Show in the hall. Rosie, Duffy and Bingo came to our school to teach us about books.

SKADOOSH!!!!!! Duffy told us to scream like Ninjas. We were loud like thunder roaring in a stormy night. It was a marvellous show, we saw King Duffy coming and he was reading “King of Colours”. Soon, we saw a rugby player running in slow motion like a snail. Everyone laughed because it was so funny!
My favourite part was when Bingo performed break dancing and some ballerina dance moves to score a try in the Grand Final.
In the end, Bingo did start enjoy reading books and lived happily ever after

    by Vini
On Thursday 10th April 2014 at 1.00 pm we had sausage sizzles, cake stalls, ice-blocks, brownies, banana keke and cupcakes for sale. There was so much food….

Then the netball team had a game playing against the adults.
I could tell you that those adults were hard to beat but Mr. Margetts was the hardest of them all. He was tall like a giraffe fighting another shorter giraffe for one tree. In the end, the adults won… we tried our hardest to win but they were just too good.

Next, I asked Miss for my money so I can buy some juicies and cake. She asked, “Can you lend me $1 to buy 2 banana keke please?”
“Yes,” I replied. She paid me back in class afterwards.

In the afternoon we had different PE games such as scatter ball, relays, T-ball and cricket. It was so awesome but exhausting as well.

  15. The Assembly
    by Aisea
Yesterday, on Tuesday 8th of April, there was an opening assembly on our new health building. At 9.45am or earlier we walked to the hall. The first group to perform was the Kapa Haka group. Fita was the leader. He was great like a warrior. When it had finished, Mrs Parkin made a little speech. The next group was the Tongan group. I was thinking to dance with them but I was too shy and I didn’t want to get into trouble. It was so cool that the song made me want to dance too. Siu received the most money. I think Rachel should do more moves but I guessed she was still good.

The ukulele was the next group to perform and I joined in too. When it finished my hand hurt because I had to do the beats on the stage’s floor. So, I went to the toilet and washed my hand. Then we had to go outside to bless the new health clinic.

    It was a wonderful morning.

  16. PE Fun Day
    by Daniel
On Thursday afternoon it was PE fun day at school.
When the bell rang, everyone raced to the food stalls because they were hungry. People were shouting and talking about what to buy. I walked over to buy an ice-block. It was cold like I was in a freezer. Soon, the bell rang so we walked back to class to get ready for the PE fun day. We drank our milk before lunch so after we put our chairs up and our bags on the mat, we were ready to line up for our games.

Our first game was T-ball. It was fun because I swung the ball high up to the sky like a shooting star. Next, we strolled to the relays. It was fun and fast to run with my team. Then we moved on to the scatter-ball game. Fita was the best of all when he kicked the ball up really high and scored a lot of points.

Finally, cricket was the last game with Mr. Margetts. He showed how to play and then we played the game. We took turns fielding and batting. Tugi said that he was the best but I was thinking in my mind “sorry – he didn’t have a turn!”

Anyway, it was a fantastic day.

Yesterday, it was PE fun day at school. Many parents came to join in. There was lots of food at lunch time. I had one sausage sizzle and I bought two ice-blocks. One for me and one for my friend. It was so cold like my brain was in the freezer. There were lots of people in the playground. Some were buying cakes or brownies. The adults were playing against the children in a netball match. It looked exciting.

After lunch, all the classes took turns to play sport games.
I like T-ball game. Swoosh! The ball shot into the air like a rocket and the class shouted, “ Run! Run!”

    I had a fabulous time.

On Thursday afternoon we had a fun day at school.
We had juices, cake stalls and sausage sizzles. I had a sausage sizzle and some juicies too. The Netball match (a friendly one) was a game between students and adults.
Mr. Margetts’ arms were like a long snake. (He really has skills!) Well, in the end the adults won but at least Emalaina scored some goals for our team. It was extremely hot so some of us had juicies afterwards.

When the bell rang we lined up for the fun games. The games we played with Ms. Cheung was T-ball, with Mrs Harrison was relays. Wow! Rachel ran as fast as a cheetah in the relays. Wow! She’s fast! Mrs. Walker’s game was scatter ball.
“1,2,3…” we each counted in teams. Ding! Ding! The bell sang again.
“ Come on Room 4, don’t waste time!” Mr. Margetts shouted. We played cricket with him. It was cool.

My favourite game was Netball at lunch time because we played our best.

  19. The Awesome Netball Game
    by Emalaina

“Yeh! Yeh!” shouted the kids watching the Netball game. It was a friendly match between the adults and children – the “Wesley A team”. I was so jumpy that my sister tried to block me when I had the ball. When we got a goal it was the other team’s ball. Mr. Margetts was so tall that Jesse jumped like a shooting star trying to grab the ball.

Then Siu blocked the ball away from the shooter so she passed it to Vini. Annie dashed for the ball and passed to me to score a goal! It was exhilarating!

Later on people suddenly swapped positions so others could have a rest. Although, we didn’t win the game, we managed to score two goals! It was an awesome match.

On Thursday afternoon we lined up at the cake stalls to buy the sausage sizzles and cupcakes. There were lots of people in the playground at lunchtime. Some people bought lots of cakes.

Next, there was a netball match, some adults played while other adults were selling the food. When the bell rang, we finished our roll and lined up to play all different games in the field.

The first game was T-ball with Ms Cheung. Sione made a rule and said, “ No swearing!” I swung the ball high up in the sky like a rocket. I ran fast around the four bases. It was an awesome run.

Yesterday…. click tock, Click tock! went the clock. I was waiting for lunch time to come. It just took forever! Finally, the bell rang. We rushed to the cake stalls and we were waiting and holding our money. We could buy what we wanted. I bought the red juicie but most of the children were buying cakes. I saw Ms. Cheung taking the banana keke. It was like she took the whole plateful. Then I noticed the netball game starting. The adults were playing against the children. It looked like an exciting game.

Later in the afternoon, we played all sorts of games such as T-ball, relays, scatter ball and cricket. When we were with Mrs Walker playing the scatter ball game, she said, “Don’t move until the second ball!” It was a fun game.

Finally, we had such a fabulous time and it was the most terrific day ever.

    by Kiveni Room 4

On Thursday at one o’clock in the afternoon, the whole school went to the Fun Day at school. It was awesome! The adults were first at the playground because we were eating our lunch until the bell rang. When the bell rang we all rushed out to the table like pigs rushing to their dinner and I heard people shouting like dogs because they were happy to get their food. They were so loud!

In the afternoon we all participated in the fun games.
I like Tee-ball the best because I swung the ball into the air like an arrow flying to the moon. Later I heard my aunty shouted, “ Everybody, come here!” People walked over to get more sausages.

It was the coolest day ever because I could spend lots of time with my friends playing fun games.
