Week 3 Cricket, Lion Dance and Duffy's visit

Hi Everyone

What a busy week we had. On Monday, we learned how to make some balancing moves and then Thursday we started some basic cricket skills such as 'lunching' forward, catching and running.

Two lions were out in the playground on Thursday to celebrate Chinese New Year. Did you see have a wriggle with the lions?

Finally, on Friday, Duffy and his friends visited us and put on a marvellous show about reading and using our imagination. They had howling plants from Harry Potter and slithering snakes from ancient Egyptian times! Tino kino te Pai!

Week 2 Science Road Show

How long is the science truck?

On Tuesday 17 February, the Science truck arrived at Wesley Primary. We were soooooooooooooo
excited and we estimated the length of the truck? We used the one metre ruler as the unit of measurement and tried to measure its actual length.

 Dear Parents and Caregivers,     
     

Welcome back to school. The children are settling into the classroom, learning new routines and making new friends. Stationery is important for achieving success in learning, please come to the office to purchase a stationery pack for your child if you  haven’t done so.  If you need to contact us at any stage please feel free to come in before and after class or call  6209261 to make another suitable appointment.

Please remember  to bring sunhats.         

• Mathematics
  This term will be on adding and subtracting skills. Minor focus on shapes and  volume.

• English will focus on Recount writing  and explanations.

•  Reading will be on gaining meaning from texts by using predicting, questioning and retelling skills.

• Topic is on sounds. We will inquiry into the world of science in particular of  sound. What is it?  How do we make sound? We will have lots of fun    experimenting on different activities.
  Remember Science Roadshow in Week 2, Tuesday.

• Our P.E. and Health programme

 this term focuses on athletic and striking/ fielding skills.

• Maori language will be on greetings and social phrases.

Welcome back to 2015. We are still in Summer so remember to wear your hats and have your drink bottles handy.

Here is the homework for this term. Remember to return your reader and homework daily.

Room 4  Homework      Term 1  of 2015 Our topics this term is on Sound. Our homework routine consists of: Reading to an adult every day. Learning spelling words (including common word list 1-4) Learning any times tables and basic facts for that week. As well as that, choose from the following independent learning projects and do one every week:

        each day. They should be bringing home a book from school daily or read a book
        of their choice at home. Record the book at the back of the homework book.

3.    What happened in the story?

4.    What was your favourite part the story? Why?

5.    What were some of the characters in the story like? Draw and describe them.
